Community mural with Focus Garinger High School Students

Arts Plus program commission

Working through Arts Plus with students in the Focus Garinger program, the mural process involved a school bus tour of my murals in Charlotte and collaborative workshops to design and then paint the mural together. Garinger High was designed by A.G. Odell, and we discussed his work, Modernism, and created a 3D city together using modernist shapes designed by the students. These were then photographed and incorporated into the mural. The background of the mural includes an aerial view of the high school and surrounding neighborhood. It was especially wonderful to connect with these delightful students and contribute to a school in the neighborhood where I lived.
